How YourGuruz handles your information when you browse offers, subscribe to our newsletter, or head off to a retailer — written in plain language.
YourGuruz is a website for finding coupons, deals and offers. You can browse most of it without giving us anything. Here is what we may collect, and when.
Like almost every website, when you visit YourGuruz our hosting and analytics tools record standard technical details: your IP address, browser and device type, the pages you view, the site or search that referred you, and the date and time. We use this to keep the site working, understand which content is useful, and spot abuse.
We do not try to build a detailed profile of you, and our tag setup does not pass your name, email or an account ID into analytics.
Cookies are small files a website stores in your browser. YourGuruz and some of the services we use set cookies to:
You can control or delete cookies in your browser settings, and you can browse in a private or incognito window. Blocking some cookies may affect how parts of the site work.
YourGuruz does not currently display a cookie consent banner. Where your consent is required for certain cookies under the law that applies to you, please use your browser controls to manage them.
We use Google Analytics 4 and Google Tag Manager to see how many people visit YourGuruz, which pages they read, and how they found us. This is reported to us in aggregate — trends and totals, not individuals.
Google processes this data under its own privacy and analytics terms. Analytics is switched off for logged-in site staff. We also use Google’s PageSpeed Insights to check performance; that is a tool for us and does not track visitors.
You can opt out of Google Analytics across websites using Google’s browser add-on, or by blocking analytics cookies.
Many offers on YourGuruz link out to a retailer. Some of those are affiliate links, which let a retailer know the visit came from us so we may earn a small amount if you buy. Our Affiliate Disclosure explains this in full.
From a privacy point of view: when you click an offer, the retailer — and any affiliate or advertising service involved — may receive standard information such as your IP address, browser, the page you came from and the time. That is the same kind of detail any website sees when you click a link to it. Some of these services may set their own cookies.
Once you follow an offer link and arrive on a retailer’s website, you are on their platform — not ours.
Anything you do there — browsing, creating an account, entering payment or delivery details, buying — is handled by that retailer under its own privacy policy and terms. YourGuruz has no control over, and no access to, the information you give a retailer. We would encourage you to read the privacy policy of any site you shop on.
We use the information above to:
We do not use your information to make automated decisions that significantly affect you.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not hand it over for other companies to run their own marketing to you.
We do rely on trusted service providers that process limited information so YourGuruz can function:
We may also disclose information if the law requires it, to protect our rights or the safety of users, or as part of a business transfer such as a merger or sale.
Some pages on YourGuruz show ads served through a third-party advertising service, which uses Google Ad Manager to display them. To do this, the service and its partners may read your IP address and page context and set advertising cookies to limit how often you see the same ad and to measure performance.
We do not build our own ad-targeting profiles, and we do not give advertisers your name or email. You can manage ad personalisation through Google’s Ads Settings and your browser’s cookie controls.
If you subscribe, we use your email address only to send the YourGuruz newsletter — deals, guides and updates. It is managed through Mailchimp.
Every newsletter has an unsubscribe link at the bottom. Clicking it stops the emails. You can also ask us to remove you (see “Contact us about privacy”).
We take reasonable steps to protect the information we hold — for example, serving the site over HTTPS, keeping software updated, and limiting who can reach the admin area.
No website or internet transmission is ever completely secure, so we cannot promise absolute security. If something does go wrong with data we are responsible for, we will act promptly and notify you and the authorities where the law requires it.
When we no longer need information, we delete it or remove the parts that identify you.
Depending on where you live and the law that applies, you may have the right to:
If you are in India, the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 gives you rights to access a summary of your personal data and its processing, to seek correction and erasure, to nominate someone to act for you, and to have a grievance addressed. We aim to handle your information in line with that law as it and its rules come into effect.
To exercise any of these, contact us using the details in section 16. We may need to confirm your identity first. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can raise it with the Data Protection Board of India once it is operational, or with your local data-protection authority.
YourGuruz is meant for adults and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18.
If you believe a child has given us personal information — for example, in a comment or the newsletter form — please contact us and we will remove it.
YourGuruz is operated from India. Some of the services we use are based in other countries — for example, Mailchimp stores newsletter emails in the United States, and Google’s services operate globally.
This means your information may be processed or stored outside India. We only use providers we consider reasonable for the purpose, and we rely on the protections those providers put in place.
We may update this policy as YourGuruz changes or the law does. When we make a significant change, we will update the date at the top of this page and, where it matters, make the change more visible on the site.
Continuing to use YourGuruz after an update means you accept the revised policy.
For any question about this policy or your information — including requests to access, correct or delete data — please get in touch. We will do our best to help and to respond within a reasonable time.
